"The solution to speeders on Pioneer Crossing in Lehi may be to raise the speed limit.
A Utah Department of Transportation study has recommended raising the speed limit from 35 mph to 45 or 50 mph. The proposed change has Lehi city leaders worried about safety.
UDOT had a speed study done for Pioneer Crossing and submitted the results to Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain and Lehi in December for comment. Region 3 UDOT traffic engineer Doug Bassett said Monday that UDOT is waiting for the city officials' responses."-Daily Herald

Eagle Mtn: Going West
"Suburban development is spreading like a cancer west of Utah Lake. That sucking sound you hear is the uncontrolled drain on the financial and water resources of the state if Utah County and other local governments do not adopt smart growth policies for this burgeoning area."-sltrib.com

Chase's Take: Stop acting with the mentality that "if we don't build it, then they won't come". People are already moving out that way. In fact, 22,000 plus now live in the Cedar Valley. Not addressing transportation issues now will only make the problem worse. Make these decisions now while land is open.

More Traffic in Eagle Mountain?
Developers will have to wait for a traffic study before adding nearly 40 acres to the northeast corner of Eagle Mountain complete with a master plan for 389 homes.
Developers of the Scenic Mountain Master Development Plan are proposing a mixture of residential uses with a gross density of nearly 10 homes per acre. The City Council held a hearing on Aug. 18, but took no action because the land, which is near the Ranches Golf Course driving range, is in Saratoga Springs.
Capital Security Mortgage and Tracy K. Gibbs own the property but want to be in Eagle Mountain. The City Council approved changing the boundary, but want a traffic study to see if a signal is needed at state Route 73 and Mt. Airey Drive, the street that enters the area, city spokeswoman Linda Peterson said.
The study may be completed next time the council meets on Nov. 18, she said.- Deseret News

Eagle Mountain To Consider Sales Tax Hike

Residents of Eagle Mountain probably plan on voting for a quarter-cent sales tax in November that would help to pay for a express bus to Salt Lake City.
Saratoga Springs is also considering on such a vote.
Each city would have have a park-in-ride lot along with express bus routes.
Under the city proposals both cities would have to agree to the tax hike.
If this is seen to completion, would you be willing to take the express to work everyday?
