"Eagle Mountain is looking to double a planned splash pad.
The city will spend $180,000 in the spring to build a splash pad -- a zero-depth water feature that children can run through and cool off during summer. In a recent meeting, elected officials voted to authorize the city to apply for a matching grant from the state. If awarded, the grant would effectively allow the city to double the size of the splash pad, adding extra water features and amenities.
The splash pad will have a western theme and will be built at Nolan Park, the location of the city's annual Pony Express Days celebration, she said. The Pony Express will be part of the western theme. The splash pad will compliment adjacent baseball and soccer fields."-Daily Herald

Eagle Mtn: Residents To Decide On Pool Bond
"Eagle Mountain residents will decide Nov. 2 if they want to borrow money to add an aquatic center to a citywide park.
The city is seeking voters’ approval on a $7 million bond for an outdoor water complex at Mid-Valley Regional Park, a mile north of City Hall. The park already includes athletic fields, and will eventually be the home of a new city center.
The outdoor aquatic center would include a leisure pool, slides, a lazy river and a lap pool, along with locker rooms, party rooms, concession space and pavilions. The proposed center is similar to Payson’s water park, both in size and design.
The nearest public pool is at Lehi Legacy Center."-SLTrib

Eagle Mountain City A No Show
When it came to a county-wide smoke ban...
"One city, Eagle Mountain, notably opposed a countywide ban and argued that cities should be allowed to form their own policies -- but nobody from that city showed up at the public hearing to argue the point. In fact, nobody at all argued against it, much to the surprise of the board." -Daily Herald

Smoke Ban in Utah County Parks
The new smoke ban that has been approved for all Utah County parks is a joke.
This decision should have been made at the city level by the mayors.

No More Smoke in Eagle Mtn. Parks
"The Utah County Board of Health has approved a ban on smoking in public parks and for all gatherings of more than 100 people on public property.
The ban takes effect Jan. 1 and prohibits smoking in public parks, baseball fields, soccer fields and other publicly owned recreation areas.
It also applies to mass gatherings, such as public rallies or ceremonies.
Those who light up can be fined $25 for the first offense, and $100 for subsequent offenses." -ksl.com

Another Eagle Mountain Park To Be Ready 09'
Little soccer stars and soccer moms long ago out grew Eagle Mountain's Nolan Park.
Now those future stars and mini-van driven moms will have more room to roam during games beginning in Fall 2009.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Eagle Mountain City Council has approved phase one of Mid-Valley Regional Park.
According to Eagle Mountain Mayor Heather Jackson, phase one will be 4 acres of mainly grass for soccer fields and a parking lot.
The park could take up to ten phases with uncertainty as to how much all the phases will cost.

Eagle Mountain Mayor Opposes Countywide Smoke-free Park Ban
Eagle Mountain Mayor Heather Jackson was the only Utah County mayor that opposed a countywide smoke-ban in public parks.
Instead she favors letting each city decide.
How do you feel? Do you favor a countywide ban? Or should cities be able to establish their own laws regarding smoking in public parks?

Work Begins On Skate Park
A groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday for the skate park planned at Pony Express Memorial Park.
It's estimated that the skate park will cost $300,000.
The money required to build the skate park is coming from impact fees that are designated specifically for regional parks improvements.
Pony Express Skate Park will be 11,000 square feet, above ground, and feature a steel-ramp design.

Not All Residents Favor Bike Park
Many of the residents speaking against the park said they would like to see the park, just not in their back yards. They said it would bring strangers to their neighborhood, could produce dust, would need bathrooms, a flash flood could wash dirt onto roads, and there are other needs for recreation money in the city.
Chase's response: C'mon is it really in your "backyard"? You built in a developing city with lots of room for sprawl. If you have open space anywhere around your home or subdivision you have to expect something to be built there some day. Second come with some suggestions on what the land would be better used as.
